Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad played their first match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday and it looked like both teams batted at a different pitch. Hyderabad complicated things way more ended up losing its plot.
Hyderabad opted to bat first and had lost Bairstow earlier than they would have wanted. Pandey, who came into this contest after a while, took the attacking role as Warner wasn’t middling. Pandey played well to score 61 from 46 deliveries and got out to an extraordinary catch from Faf du Plessis.
On the other hand, Warner tried just too much and couldn’t get the placement right but he hung around for a long time than he should’ve and ended up scoring 57 from just 55, that actually did affect the match a bit for the team. Of course, on other days, he would have had at least a ton if he had played that many deliveries.
In the end, Williamson played as if he was batting in a different pitch, had 4 fours and a six for his 10-ball 26. He took the team to 171.
In return, there was absolutely zero pressure on both openers as they batted with ease and placed it well, pierced the fielders and there were some cracking boundaries too. Gaikwad and Du Plessis added 129 runs for the first wicket. Rashid Khan, despite going for runs, helped the team to get back into the game by picking three wickets. However, they had left too late as Chennai went on to win the match with ease by seven wickets.
With this win, Chennai Super Kings are at the top of the points table while Sunrisers Hyderabad are still at the bottom.
