Mehidy Hasan becomes the 3rd concussion substitute in a Test vs India

The all-rounder Mehidy Hasan became the third player to enter the team as the concussion substitute in the place of Liton Das who has been hit by a lethal bouncer of Shami.

Das was hit flush on the helmet by a lethal bouncer from Mohammed Shami right at the stroke of lunch on the first day of the Day-night Test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Das got hit on the third ball of the 21st over but resumed batting after being treated by Bangladesh physio. He hit a couple of boundaries after that and reached 24 off 27 balls before asking for the physio to come back on the field.

He started feeling the after-effects of the blow and eventually decided to retire hurt.

After the break, the team announced that Hasan would replace Das. However, Hasan will not be allowed to bowl in the match.

Mehidy Hasan is the third player to be used as a concussion substitute against India in Tests after Jermaine Blackwood and Theunis de Bruyne. This is also the second time that a concussion substitute is being used in a Test in India.
