Djokovic wins his 17th Grand Slam, 8th Australian Open, back to No.1

Novak Djokovic produces an extraordinary performance to go past Dominic Thiem in tough five set to win the Australian Open for the 8th time.

The champion started off very well by breaking Thiem and won the first set with ease.

Thiem, as expected, came back stronger, well stronger than Djokovic would have thought and the Austrian grabbed the next two sets. While Djokovic had a series of errors, Thiem certainly deserves credit for putting on a perfect show.

The fourth set needed something special from Djokovic and he produced the same. He continued to attack Thiem, stayed in the point when it was needed, broke Thiem at the right time.

He continued the same pattern in the fifth as well. Thiem tried his best to get back on serve but unfortunately, errors at the right time caused Thiem the games and eventually the match.

For the fight the youngster put on today, he deserves to win at least a Grand slam this year.
