Breaking: Olympics to be postponed to 2021, says IOC member

The 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed by one year because of coronavirus, says International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound.

This comes after the rumours that major countries were unlikely to send their team for participation.

Australia and Canada already pulled out of the Olympics.

“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound said. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.”

Postponing a tournament like Olympics is not that easy and certainly it is going to cost a lot. However, safety should be the priority right now and this indeed is the right decision.
