Chepauk’s restricted stands set to reopen for IPL 2020

Good news for all the cricket fans, as the three stands in the Chepauk stadium, will be reopened for the IPL 2020.

In the last nine years, the stands were opened only for a game between India and Pakistan. But after that, the gates were permanently closed without taking exception games into the account. The city corporation closed them as they felt that there is very less space between the stands and Madras Cricket Club.

Recently, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association had got the custody after the renewal of the lease agreement with the state government.

Now, the Gym at the stadium will be demolished and will be reconstructed at a different place. The board will obtain the necessary permission to go ahead with the stadium.

Keeping in mind that only a few days left for the IPL, the process will begin soon.

IPL is scheduled to begin at the end of the March where defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium.
