Smriti-Jemimah help India to seal WI series

India rode on the back of Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues’s twin fifties as the visitors made sure to get past West Indies in the 3rd and final ODI and sealed the series.

Batting first, West Indies struggled against the Indian bowlers who really did give a hard time to the hosts. Coming back from the suspension, Hayley Mathews showed some spirit in scoring 26 off 39 and unfortunately was dismissed run-out wrongly. Blame the absence of TV Umpire, Taniya Bhatia dislodged the stumps with her gloves.

Once again, captain Taylor had to make sure that her team reached a decent total by scoring 79 runs. She now holds the record for more 75+ scores in Women’s ODI, taking over Charlotte Edwards.

Taylor ran out of partners and the team was dismissed for just 194.

Batting next, Smriti Mandhana who is coming back from the injury replaced Priya Punia in the playing XI and I guess she brings the best out of Jemimah Rodrigues as well. The duo reached their third 100+ partnership yesterday and their partnership 141 was the highest one for any wicket in West Indies. India then lost four quick wickets but did chase down the total with six wickets in hands.

With this, India sealed the series 2-1 and also got the two crucial two points. However, the direct qualification for the World Cup is under threat as India might skip their series against Pakistan.
