Former South Africa skipper has announced his retirement from the longest format of the game on Wednesday.
Du Plessis, during his interview to Independent Media told that he was hoping to retire after the Australian series but now that series has been postponed due to pandemic situations, he is calling it a day.
“I really wanted to finish with the upcoming Test series against Australia. That would have felt like it has all come full circle. I had that clarity of mind and heart and even though the ending is not how I imagined, the clarity remains,” du Plessis told Independent Media.
Faf du Plessis completes his Test career with 69 matches, 4163 runs with ten tons to his name.
