IPL 2020 might begin on March 29 at Wankhede

Indian Premier League 2020 might begin on March 29 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai with defending champions Mumbai Indians.

However, the IPL Governing Council is yet to confirm the news.

A Delhi Capitals official spoke to IANS and has revealed his discomfort with the start date as many star players might be missing the game.

“I am told that the 2020 edition of the IPL will start on March 29 at Wankhede,” IANS quoted a Delhi Capitals official as saying. It’s not good news for the franchises as they will be missing some of their star players during the start of the tournament with two international series on at the same time. Australia, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka players will miss the start of IPL 2020 if the tournament begins from March 29.

Most of the officials have voted for the IPL to start by April so that their star players will be back from the national duties to the IPL.

Australia-New Zealand will be playing T20I series at the same time and the final T20i falls on March 29. Whereas, England and Sri Lanka will be playing Test match at the same time and that ends on March 31.
