Well, I’m sorry to break it to you but JK Rowling is transphobic. She still “like” tweets that are transphobic and many did call her out for the same.
Recently, while appreciating an art work by a kid, her phone accidentally copy pasted a few sentence that was from ‘transphobic’ article.
“I love this truly fabulous Ickabog, with its bat ears, mismatched eyes and terrifying bloodstained teeth!” she wrote.
Her tweet then continued: “In court, Wolf claimed the Facebook post in which she’d said he wanted to ‘fuck up some TERFS’ was just ‘bravado’.”
The author realized it only 20 minutes after posting it and she deleted, reposted a tweet saying that a completely unrelated sentence got in the middle.
Today, she met with a backlash after calling out an article’s use of the phrase “people who menstruate”.
“I’m sure there used to be a word for those people,” she wrote, adding: “Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
This invited criticism. Many lashed out at the best-selling author, accusing her of being “transphobe”. They argued that gender could be different to what was assigned at birth for transgenders.
But things escalated further when Rowling, in another tweet, wrote: “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”
Well, most of the Harry Potter fans were disappointed after reading the same and a few even wanted to boycott her.
A few asked her to stop tweeting so that they can enjoy her books.
Another Twitter user urged the author to “learn and do better”. She also added, “Just because you have a bigoted past doesn’t mean you can’t learn and change your mind. It’s called growth. Only the willfully ignorant are beyond it.”
