Kerala: Government telecasts virtual classes on Television

In India, not everyone has access to the smartphone or the internet. The best way to reach most of them is through Television. Kerala knows it well and no wonder their literacy rate is what it is.

Right from the day Unlock 1.0 began, the classes are being taught online and most of the people do not have access to the same.

Even though the Central Government told that the classes would be telecasted on Television, most of the state Government is yet to take action.

Recently, Kerala introduced an education channel where they will telecast the virtual classes and there will be no internet needed for the same.

According to NDTV, Kerala is telecasting digital classes named “First bell” on the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE)-Victers channel, website, mobile app, and social media pages.
Sessions in Malayalam and English will begin at 8.30 am and end at 5.30 pm. State school students of classes I to XII (except XI) can watch them live or download them.

“We have entrusted the class teachers and school headmasters or principals to make sure that students have access to a television or a smartphone or a computer, and Internet for the classes. If not, they should find an alternative for the students to attend the online classes either in real-time or later,” said Director of Public Instruction (DPI) K Jeevan Babu according to Hindustan Times.
