It was a low-scoring thriller as Punjab went on to defend 126 against Hyderabad.
Batting first, Agarwal-less Punjab had a good start and was 66 during their 10th over. Right after the wicket of Gayle, the team began to lose wickets and they couldn’t find boundaries at the right time. They managed only 126 runs.
While everyone bowled well, Rashid Khan’s 2 for 14 was the stand-out.
In return, Hyderabad had a brisk start, thanks to Warner and Bairstow. Soon, Punjab’s spinners brought them back to the game and Hyderabad found it difficult to score runs. With run-rate kept ticking they took risks but failed miserbly. As they fell 12 runs short of the target. Most of the credits must go to Jordan for bowling an excellent 19th over where he got rid of Rashid Khan and Jason Holder in consecutive deliveries.
With this win, Punjab marches forward and still have an excellent chance of qualifying for the play-offs.
