Match 4: RR v KXIP: KXIP wins as Ashwin Mankads Buttler

So much of controversy filed Jaipur as Jos Buttler was mankaded by Ashwin on 69 while chasing 185. After calling the toss right and putting the opposition to bat first, Rajasthan looked good at the venue where they never lost against Punjab.

Punjab, on the other hand, started off slowly despite losing Rahul early. Though they had Gayle, they found it difficult to score initially, thanks to some brilliant bowling by Jofra Archer. As the game progressed, Gayle found his momentum, smashed 79 off 46 deliveries. His partnership with Sarfaraz Khan who scored 46* off 29 deliveries, helped the visitors to reach 184 in 20 overs.

The chase was on as Buttler and Rahane took off. They both added 78 in eight overs before Rahane made his way back. After the powerplay, the spinners brought the team back as both Ashwin and Rahman controlled the run flow. Still, Rajasthan was cruising.

At 108/1, Ashwin mankaded Buttler that raised many eyebrows and a lot of people claiming that this was against the spirit of the game. The match had to go on though. It looked as if the Rajasthan team couldn’t come out of the incident as the match turned over completely. With wickets falling in both ends, Rajasthan suddenly found themselves nine wickets down and they managed to score only 170 in their 20 overs. Chris Gayle was awarded the man of the match for his efforts.
