New Zealand name their squad for England ODIs, 16YO Fran Jones earns maiden call-up

New Zealand women’s cricket team have announced their squad for the ODI series against England which begin on February 23.

The White Ferns have included two new faces in the list. The 16 years old Fran Jonas has earned her maiden call-up after a good show in the on-going one-day competition.

The Auckland teen is the 4th highest wicket-taker in the HJ Shield competition currently.

Another interesting addition to the squad is Northern Spirits’ Brooke Halliday who is the 2nd leading run-scorer in the tournament.

Frankie Mackay, who last featured in the team in 2019, is back to the squad as well.

Mackay sustained an injury during India’s contest in 2019 and the team has moved on since then.

However, the Canterbury all-rounder is having an excellent tournament and is too good to be ignored this time.

Her experience will come in handy in the absence of former captain Suzie Bates. The opener is yet to recover from her shoulder injury while Rosemary Mair was not considered because of her side strain.
