Qatar Open: Sania Mirza makes winning return to WTA circuit

Indian superstar Sania Mirza had returned to the WTA circuit after 12 months and have won her first match along with her partner Andreja Klepac of Slovenia.

The pair defeated Ukranian’s pair of Nadiia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok 6-4 6-7(5/7) 10-5 in the opening round.

This is Sania’s first game in 12 months. Her last match came at this same tournament in 2020 before the pandemic could take over.

Earlier this year, Sania revealed that she had contracted Coronavirus and staying away from her son is the toughest thing she had faced. She also advised everyone to take the virus seriously.
