Sumit Nagal becomes 1st Indian man to win a singles Main Draw match in US Open in 7 years

US Open has begun under closed condition due to coronavirus pandemic. In the first round, India’s Sumit Nagal had defeated Bradley Klahn of the United States 6-1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to progress further into the tournament.

With this result, the 23-year-old Nagal has become the first Indian male to win a main draw match at the US Open in 7 years. In 2013, Somdev Devvarman had reached the second round of the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open.

Nagal who qualified last year as well met Roger Federer in the first round. He grabbed a set against the former champion but couldn’t get through.

Here, in the second round, Nagal will be meeting Dominic Thiem.
