A seven-year-old girl was raped and killed near Pudukottai.
The girl went missing on June 30. After searching, the family complained to the Police.
The police identified the minor’s body and was taken to the hospital. Her body was found in a forest area bordering her village.
According to senior police officials in the district, the young girl had also been sexually assaulted allegedly by Raja who is 25 years old. The girl who was playing nearby was alone and her neighbour reportedly took advantage of the situation. Her clothes were in a state of disarray and her face was severely injured. She was beaten with stick, the officials said that the marks are visible.
A FIR has been filed and based on the postmortem report, sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offence Act (POCSO act) will be added in the FIR.
