I grew up watching Suriya’s films. There were films like Nerukku Ner, Poovellam Kaettupaar and I loved those roles. Before action and rage could take over, Suriya’s films were more about family story and love. He was a charmer.
When the action and rage took over, Films like Khakha Khakha, Pithamagan, Raththa Charithiram, Ghajini, Singam and a lot more happened. He was a performer and stole the show whenever he had an opportunity.
There was a time when he was leading the market and everything turned to gold for him. At least, I thought. I don’t understand what went wrong with him now and I was kind of disappointed to see his last few films. Maybe my expectations were high. Maybe because it was Suriya, the man who made me fall in love with him through his characters. Of course, even today, he plays every role to his best but there is something missing. I couldn’t find what it is.
Today, when Soorarai Pottru teaser, I saw that rage, I loved it. I’m sure Suriya is going to pull it off. This time, I’m going to keep my expectations low. As a fan, I couldn’t take disappointments anymore. I do have a great hope that this film would set things right for Suriya and I really wish it does. Majorly for the hard work, this man puts in for every single film. For the good person, he is, he deserves only good things.
All the best, Suriya Anna and team.
