India got their first bit of practice in the West Indies through an unofficial warm-up match against South Africa.
India won the toss and opted to bat first. After a poor start, the Indian batters chipped in to take the team to 146 in 20 overs. The youngster Jemimah smashed 50 while Harmanpreet Kaur and the Wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia provided a useful contribution.
Chasing 147, South Africa lost Lizelle Lee early and Laura Wolvaardt replaced her. Wolvaardt and Captain Niekerk added an important partnership. Wolvaardt scored 42 and Niekerk scored 35. While the team was looking good, they lost quick wickets. Despite contributions from Tryon and Kapp down the order, South Africa lost by three runs.
In the bowling department for India, Radha Yadav grabbed three while Patil picked two wickets.
