Coronavirus scare: Indian Railways hikes platform ticket price from Rs 10 to Rs 50

Due to the coronavirus scare, the Indian Railways have increased the platform tickets in 250 stations. The new prices will be Rs 50 from Rs 10.

This increase is a temporary measure to control the crowd.

“Platform ticket price has been increased to Rs 50 at about 250 stations across the country to ensure crowd control,’’ a senior Rail Ministry official said.

The official further said that the Western Railways has increased the platform ticket fare to Rs 50 in 6 Divisions – Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, till further orders.’’

He, however, added that the increase in the platform ticket prices is a temporary measure to contain an extra load of people in the railway premises.

Due to Coronavirus, the ministry has been asked to take proper preventive measures right from introducing thermal scanner to using sanitizers.

The people will be checked thoroughly by the officials in risky stations.
