Former Pakistan batter Taufeeq Umar tests positive for coronavirus

Former Pakistan batter Taufeeq Umar tested positive for COVID19.

Many football players around the world are affected by COVID19. Among cricketers, Umar is the first major player to be tested positive.

Umar who last played for his country in 2014 in a Test match against New Zealand in Dubai is currently under self-isolation at his home, as per a report in Cricket Pakistan.

In the 2000s Umar was a vital cog in the batting line up of Pakistan. He formed a formidable opening partnership with the likes of Imran Nazir and Salman Butt later in his career but never managed to live up to the expectations due to the lack of form and fitness issues.

He retired from international cricket in 2016.
