A 17-year-old dalit youth was shot dead by upper caste people in a village in Uttar Pradesh for entering a temple defying the UC men.
Vikas Jatav, the deceased Dalit teen, was allegedly stopped by four upper-caste men from entering a temple in Domkhera village. Not succumbing to their pressure, Jatav went to the temple and offered prayers on May 31.
On the same day, the victim went to file a police complaint, which they did not take. Last Saturday, the four men barged into Jatav’s house and shot him dead.

The four accused are identified as Lala Chauhan, Horam Chauhan, Bhushan and Jasveer. The accused have been charged with murder and violation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The police have arrested Lala Chauhan and Horam while the other two are still at large.
“Horam, who is 18 years old, did not return home after the playground quarrel. He came back on Saturday night, went directly to the home of Vikas, who was sleeping on the veranda, and allegedly shot him dead. We are trying to arrest all the accused,” said Niraj Kumar the police officer who is handling the investigation to The Telegraph.
