On Friday, three men, including the son of former SBI employee for arrested by Tamil Nadu police for running a fake branch of SBI.
The incident came in light after a former SBI worker found the branch and suspected. He made a complaint to the Zonal office who confirmed that the area had only two branches and they did not open third one there.
According to the report in the Business Standard, the fake bank branch was opened in Panruti area.
Right after the man informed the zonal office, the officials made a visit and was shocked to see the exact bank set up and made a complaint to the police immediately.
The police arrested three men including an unemployed son of former SBI employees who was the mastermind for the entire process. One of them took care of printing everything from Challan to the cheques. While other person took care of printing the stamps.
Earlier, in 2018, similar incident happened in Karnataka where the police arrested a man for the same reason and collected more than A Lakh rupees which were deposited by the people.
