TV reporter finds out she has cancer from viewer’s comment

A television journalist from Florida has found out that she has cancer after a viewer asked her to check the lump in her throat in the comments.

Victoria Price, an investigative journalist at WFLA News in Tampa Bay, later, took it to twitter to say tell her story and thanked the viewer for the comment.

“Turns out, I have cancer. And I owe it to one of our wonderful @WFLA viewers for bringing it to my attention,” she wrote sharing the screenshot of the comment she received a month ago.

She also said that she would be undergoing a surgery on Monday, however, she said that doctors have assured her that chemotherapy is not on the cards for now.

It all began when a viewer noticed the lump on Price’s neck during abroadcast and she felt something wasn’t right. Reaching out to her on email, she wrote, “Hi, just saw your news report. What concerned me is the lump on your neck. Please have your thyroid checked. Reminds me of my neck. Mine turned out to be cancer. Take care of your self.”

The message was shared as a screenshot by Price, who wrote that routine for her as a journalist has been tiring in the last few months. “As a journalist, it’s been full throttle since the pandemic began. Never ending shifts in a never-ending news cycle. Adjusting to remote workflows and in my case, taking on a new investigative role. We were covering the most important health story in a century, but my own health was the farthest thing from my mind,” she added.
