CSA Women’s Super League, match 2, Duchesses vs Coronations – Coronations win by 6 runs

Coronations got to a good start to the tournament as they defeat Duchesses in a thrilling contest which went down to the wire.

Batting first, Coronations got to a good start with Brits scoring 15 before getting out. Thompson and Wolvardt took over from there and added an excellent partnership. Thompson scored 38 while Wolvardt scored 59 and the team got to 132 for 4 in their 20 overs. Coronations lost a few wickets in the end and it felt like they were ten to fifteen runs short. Luus was the pick of the bowler and she ended up with 2 for 24.

However, they did well with the bowling, Khaka picked up Jafta earlier in the innings but Luus and Tunnicliffe added an important partnership. At one point, it seemed like the team was cruising but Coronations came back in the end by picking up wickets.

Duchesses couldn’t chase down 12 runs in the final over and fell six runs short of the target. Khaka and Winster grabbed two wickets each for the team.
