In one of the thrilling contests, Starlights have managed to defeat Coronations by two runs to open their account in the tournament.
Batting first, Starlights lost Lee early to Khaka but they bounced back as Derksen scored a brilliant 66. She had support from Steyn, who made 29.
In the end, the skipper Goodall added 13-ball 22* to take the team to 132 from their 20 overs.
Khaka and Klerk grabbed two wickets each for the team.
In return, Coronations began well and looked good for yet another victory in the tournament. Wolvaardt scored 30 while Thomson scored 53. At one point, the team was cruising but Starlights came back in the death overs, thanks to Klaas(3 wickets) and Shangase(2 wickets).
In the end, Coronations couldn’t chase down the total and fell two runs short.
