IND vs AUS, 2nd Test, Day 2: India on top after Rahane’s ton

India’s stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with the bat as India finished the day at 277 for 5. With Rahane at 104* and Jadeja at 40*.

India began the day with Shubman Gill playing an exciting knock of 45 with 8 fours to his name. Soon, Australia bounced back to dismiss Pujara followed Vihari and Gill. Pant made 29 before getting out to Starc.

Rahane, who came in at number four, took the support of the batsmen and tried to get through the day. While he batted well for the same, Australia did keep giving him chances by dropping a few sitters.

Jadeja, on the other hand, slowly built up his innings to score 40 with just one four to his name.

For Australia, it was certainly a long day with the ball. Cummins was the successful bowler of the day, and he went on to pick two wickets while Lyon and Starc grabbed one apiece today.

India ended the day with the lead of 82 runs and will begin tomorrow with a slight edge over the hosts.
