Achini Kulasuriya discharged from hospital after nasty blow on head

Sri Lankan pacer Kulasuriya has been discharged from the hospital after no serious injury but will be under supervision after she got a nasty blow on the flush of the skull while attempting a skied catch off South Africa’s Tryon during the warm-up match on Sunday.

The incident happened during the match’s second super over, which was played as a trial despite the fact that South Africa won the match by 41 runs.

Kulasuriya was standing at the long-off boundary while she tried catching the ball which was hit by Tryon. The pacer failed to grab it as the ball hit her. She then went senseless for minutes and ambulance rushed in.

As Tryon was watching with her hands on her hand in shock, Kulasuriya was taken to the hospital. After examination, the 29-year-old is doing good as she responded to the treatment. She then was discharged by the afternoon. Sri Lankan players assured Tryon that she did not have to take the blame for the same.

Sri Lanka will take on New Zealand for their first game of the World Cup next Saturday.
