COVID19: CSK’s pre-departure camp is under scanner after members tested positive

A few members of Chennai Super Kings members tested positive for coronavirus recently. The list includes Indian pacer Deepak Chahar as well as Rituraj Gaikwad(according to reports on India Today).

The members will now have to undergo self-isolation for 14 days and will join the team only if two COVID19 tests, which will be taken 24 hours apart turns negative.

With CSK being the only team to have tested positive, the team’s pre-departure camp is under the scanner. According to the reports in TOI, the BCCI was against conducting camps and a senior official said that they have even contacted the management regarding the same.

However, CSK was “adamant” in conducting the camp to get the fitness of the players back as most of the members in the team was out of the game for a long time now and also to get used to the bio-bubble conditions. The franchise was the only team to conduct the camp.

CSK sources still insist that “all it needs is one asymptomatic carrier and this (situation) could have happened to any team”.

Right now, the team will not ask BCCI to postpone their fixtures and will mentally prepare to get ready on September 19th.

Based on the IPL rules, CSK will have their opening match on September 19 where they will take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians.
