KPL 2019 Match-fixing scandal: Former IPL star CM Gautham, Kazi Arrested

Karnataka cricketers CM Gautam and Abrar Kazi have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch Bangalore for their alleged role in the Karnataka Premier League fixing scandal, according to a report in ANI.

Both the players who belong to Bellari Tuskers were reportedly given 20 Lakhs to bat slowly in the final of the tournament against Hubli and also were involved in another T20 match as well.

CM Gautham, a former India A player represented Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore in IPL. He played a major role in helping Karnataka win their domestic treble twice in a row.

Now, Gautham shifted to Goa for the domestic season recently.

The twin arrest happened after Nishant Singh Shekhawat, their bowling coach Vinu Prasad and a batsman M Viswanathan arrest.

Earlier, Bellari Tuskers bowler Bhavesh Gulecha reported that he was approached on behalf of bookies by Bhavesh Bafna, the celebrity drummer, to underperform during a KPL match. Gulecha has given a statement to the police saying he was approached by Bafna to give away more than 10 runs an over in a match in the 2019 KPL.
