As the T20 World Cup in Australia is just starting to warm-up, Pakistan would want to win its tournament starter against West Indies on Wednesday.
Leading up to the tournament, the Pakistan team did not have enough T20 match practice. Even in the two warm-up matches, they lost against Bangladesh, and the India match got abandoned due to rain.
The last time they won a match was way back in October 2019, in the three-match series against Bangladesh. In the absence of Sana Mir, the pressure will be on Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar to carry the team’s batting on their shoulders.
On the bowling front, Anam Amin will be the trump card with handy support from Diana Baig and Nida Dar.

As far as West Indies is concerned, they recorded their first win in ten matches against Thailand in their first match of the tournament.
Though the form of their openers might be a worry, the fact that their captain Stafanie Taylor led by example will give them a morale boost. The form of their wicket-keeper Shemaine Campbelle will be an added advantage.
However, the West Indies team would want Deandra Dottin to turn the tide for them. Taylor and Hayley Mathews hold the key in their bowling department, while Afy Fletcher could be the bowler to watch out for against the women in green.
West Indies would want to continue their winning momentum into the tournament. And the fact that they have not lost to Pakistan in their last head-to-head matches will give them great confidence.
