T20 World Cup, Know your team: Australia

The mightiest team in the world, Australia will be looking to win yet another trophy and here, they have an advantage of playing at home as well. They know the pitch very well and they have the right amount of players to tackle whatever it comes. What makes them the greatest team here?

Well, they have every single loophole fixed and it all comes to their bad day (or the opponent must bring in their A-game,) to give away a victory to the other team.

PREVIOUS WORLD CUP
Australia ended up winning the previous edition by defeating England in the finals of the tournament. However, the team did see a slump against the Indian team in the league match, where they lost to India by 48 runs. To their defence, in that match, the team missed out Alyssa Healy, the leading run-scorer of the tournament.

2020 WORLD CUP SQUAD
Australia: Erin Burns, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Rachael Haynes (vice-capt), Alyssa Healy (wk), Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Meg Lanning (capt), Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tayla Vlaeminck (replaced by Molly Strano), Georgia Wareham.

Right before the start of the World Cup, Australia is forced to reshuffle its strategy after Vlaeminck got injured and was replaced by Strano.

However, the team isn’t affected much though, considering the quality. The team will be hugely dependent on Healy, Gardner, Mooney on top followed by Haynes and Lanning.

The player to watch out for is certainly Annabel Sutherland. The teenager can very well clear the boundaries and will be acting as a finisher for this mighty team.

Of course, Ellyse Perry will be crucial with both bat and ball. She is in great touch as well.

Australia has six mighty all-rounders and they can all do wonders consistently. As I mentioned earlier, the team can fail only if they feel like they want an off day.
