WIPL, Match 3: Supernovas take on Velocity in a must-win encounter

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Supernovas will take on Mithali Raj-led Velocity today at Jaipur in a must-win encounter after losing the first match to Trailblazers.

The other night, Supernovas almost pulled off the victory and Harmanpreet Kaur will be disappointed for not taking the team home despite taking them so close. Today, the pressure is certainly going to be there and let’s hope it brings the best of Kaur like it always did.

The New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine will be raring to go as well. So is India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, Nat Sciver and with some power packed bowlers, Supernovas definitely will look to bounce back.

On the other hand, Velocity has done well to win convincingly despite the final over collapse and that means they have a healthy run-rate that will see them through even if they lose today.

The youngster Shafali Verma impressed us all in the first match and will be looking to score even bigger this match. Danielle Wyatt who loves to play in India especially while chasing the total is the key for the team. On a personal note, Mithali and Veda must score as well.

In the last match, Mithali opted to play with only three overseas players and It will be interesting to see if Jahanara Alam, the lone Bangladesh bowler gets an opportunity today. Also, all the three youngsters Komal Zanzad, Shafali Verma, Sushree Dibyadarshini super impressive the other night and will look to make full use of the opportunity.

Definitely, the momentum is with Mithali’s team but we just cannot rule out Kaur’s team easily. Let’s hope for a cracker of a contest once again.
