2012 Delhi Rape case: Court postpones the hanging of rapists

A Delhi court on Friday postponed the execution of death warrants of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case till further order.

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana passed the order on a plea by the convicts seeking a stay on their execution on 1 February.

According to NDTV, it is the mercy petition filed by convict Vinay Sharma that has delayed every convict’s execution hours before they were about to be hanged. Even if the President rejects it immediately, the convict has to be given 14 days till execution.
