Lungi Ngidi wants Proteas to take stand on racism

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi wants South African Cricket Board as well as cricketers to have conversation about racism and to take a stand as well once the cricket resumes. He believes there will be conversation right when the players meet.

“I think that is definitely something that will be discussed once we are in person,” he said on Monday.

“Obviously, we have spoken about it and everyone is well aware of what is going on. It’s also a difficult one because we’re not together so it’s hard to discuss. I definitely think once we get back to playing that it’s something we have to address as a team.

“As a nation as well, we have a past that is also difficult in terms of racial discrimination and things like that. So, definitely, we will be addressing it as a team. It’s something we have to take seriously and like the rest of the world is doing, take a stand.”

He also said that he is eager to get back on the field but is also thankful that someone else is playing before South Africa in this condition. He added that the team can watch the teams- England and West Indies – and their preparations. By doing so, Ngidi believes that they can adapt to the situation and know what they can expect in the future when they play.

England and West Indies currently locking horns in England. The first day of the play got interrupted by the rain.

This is the first match since England and Sri Lanka called their Test series off. It’s been more than 100 days and the players are yet to adapt to the new normal.
