COVID19 in Chennai: Change in Metro Timings

Chennai Metro, CMRL has released an update regarding the change in services of Metro Rail based on Tamil Nadu Government’s announcement for effective containment of Coronavirus.

The press release-

“CMRL has been undertaking adequate precautions at all Metro Stations and in Metro Trains by making strict adherence to wearing of Face Masks inside the Metro Premises and Metro Trains.

Testing passengers using thermal scanner, cleaning of trains, ticketing places, entry and exit gates at frequent intervals, making available sanitizers at entry, liquid soaps in the rest room areas, displaying Do’s and Don’ts to spread awareness and public announcements at stations and trains are being strictly followed for curbing the spread of
Covid-19.

As per the instructions from Government of Tamil Nadu for effective containment of
Covid-19 which will take effect from 20-04-2021 until further orders.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has decided to reschedule the services from 20-04-2021 (Tuesday) until further orders as follows;

Chennai Metro Train services will be available from 5:30 am till 9:00 pm instead of 11:00 pm on all working days from Monday to Saturday with the same peak & non-peak headway
currently followed (5 minutes and 10 minutes).

The last Metro Train trip will commence from all terminals (Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M. G. Ramachandran Central Metro, Airport Metro, St. Thomas Mount Metro and Wimco Nagar Metro Stations) between 08:55 pm to 09:05 pm and will reach the terminals by 09:50 pm.

Passengers are requested to maintain social distancing while waiting in the Metro Stations and during their travelling in Metro Trains and request all passengers to co-operate in the fight against the spread of Covid 19.”
