CSK owner N Srinivasan not happy about Raina’s departure, says reports

According to a report by Outlook India magazine, Chennai Super Kings franchise owner N Srinivasan is not very happy about Suresh Raina’s decision to skip the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League

A couple of days ago, the franchises official Twitter handle tweeted that Raina will be missing this IPL due to personal reasons and that they are fully in support with him and his family.

While the reasons for him leaving remained unconfirmed, multiple speculations were made by media organisations. Meanwhile, reports emerged that his uncle’s family was attacked by a few assailants he was killed in the unfortunate incident.

It is at this point in time, the Outlook India magazine has reported that Srinivasan expressed his displeasure over Raina’s departure.

The CSK head was quoted saying, “”Cricketers are like prima donnas … like the temperamental actors of the olden days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all seniors players have learnt to co-exist.”

“My thinking is that if you are reluctant or not happy, go back. I don’t force anyone to do anything … sometimes success gets into your head,” he said.

He has said that the team is trying to get on with the tournament and that captain MS Dhoni has assured him that everything is under control.

Raina is arguably one the best team players in both the IPL as well as the Indian team. The comments from Srinivasan at this point in time about Raina might not go well with the fans and the player himself.

“The season has not begun yet and Raina will certainly realise what he is missing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 crores per season) he is going to lose,” Srinivasan said.

Much revered by both Raina and Dhoni, Srinivasan has heaped praise on both of them all these years till this point. Him saying that Raina will want to comeback due to the financial implications that comes with it does not portray him in a good light as a cricket administrator.

An official statement from Raina on his withdrawal from the tournament is awaited.
