IPL Retention- Mumbai Indians release Malinga

According to ESPN, the defending champions Mumbai Indians have decided to let go of Lasith Malinga.

The veteran bowler who is the leading wicket-taker of the IPL has been an excellent performer for Mumbai and is one of the reasons for the team’s success.

After sitting out in 2018, Mumbai bought in 2019 and he ended up producing one of the best yorkers to dismiss Shardul Thakur in the IPL 2019 and helped the team to win the trophy.

The veteran pacer however had to miss 2020 season due to personal reasons.

Mumbai have also released Rutherford, the West Indian all-rounder whom the team bought from Delhi Capitals by trading Mayank Markande.

The all-rounder, however, did not feature in any of the IPL 2020 matches.
