Haynes & Co thumped Scorchers in a low scoring encounter

After winning the toss, Scorchers requested thunder to bat first. Thunder bowlers made use of the pitch efficiently.Due to their clever bowling, Top order Batswomen were back at the hut inside the powerplay. Tammy Beaumont’s dismal show continued as she departed for 4 runs. Followed by Rachel Trenaman (6 runs) & Sammy-jo Johnson (4 runs).

Ever dependent Heather Knight joined hands with skipper Rachel Haynes. They put a fabulous 108 run partnership for the 5th Wicket . Knight got out for a fine 57. Haynes played a fluent knock of 61 runs remaining not out. Thunder ended up with 144 runs on the board. For Scorchers, Sarah Glenn was the pick of the bowlers, bowled a miserly spell of 1/13. Piepa Clearly, Taneale Peschel & Heather Graham took a wicket apiece.

In the second innings, Big gun Sophie Devine failed twice in the match as she went to pavilion after making 7 off 11 balls. Megan Banting promoted to No.3 spot. She was castled by the pace of shabnim Ismail. T20WC player of the Tournament, Beth Mooney & Nicole Bolton tried to steady the ship. Bolton threw away her start after making 19 runs. After that dismissal, it looked like thunder rehearsing their previous outing.

Samantha Bates & Heather Knight cleaned up their worrisome Batting Lineup. Mooney tried her best to take her team home but lost her wicket to Sammy Johnson in the 18th over. She played a gem of a innings of 61 runs. Scorchers were bowled out for 120 runs with 2 balls to spare. It was a complete performance by the thunder’s bowlers. Ismail & Trenaman picked a Wicket apiece. Sam Bates, Sammy & Knight shared 7 Wickets among them. Sam Bates ended up with bowling figures of 3/9 in her 4 overs. With this third consecutive victory, Thunder retained their top spot.
