Wriddhiman Saha who had an injury last year returned to the team during the October month and he had a decent comeback where his keeping skills were appreciated. However, during the series against New Zealand, he was dropped and Rishabh Pant made it to the playing XI. India was whitewashed in the series and Pant’s selection ahead of Saha was questioned by a few senior players.
Recently, there was a rumour that Saha will be preferred only for the Indian soil and the team is looking to go ahead with Pant at the overseas tour.
Talking to Sportstar about the same, he said, “I haven’t been informed anything personally yet (if he would keep only in India and Pant will be preferred overseas). But I keep the team in front and individual choices later. If the team decides Rishabh will play, I will be fine with it as I want the team to win.”
Wriddhiman added, “Normally, every player gets to know the squad before the match when the batting order is decided. I got to know after going there. It is not tough because you are still part of the team. You have to go by team management decision based on the conditions but yes, inside, you feel that hopefully, you will play since you played the last Test series.”
Saha’s Bengal recently lost to Saurashtra in the final of the Ranji Trophy. Saha played a gritty knock of 64 in the contest.
