Indian cooking in Tokyo| Savoury pancakes | Penbugs

We all know pancakes are more than staple recipe in West and they mostly include in their diet everyday as it is very easy to make and its more like a fast food.

Moong dal pancakes are more like our South Indian adai but the ingredients and preparation time are quite less. This is a quick and a tasty version for breakfast and dinner.

Lets jump to the recipe

Ingredients
Moong dal – 1 cup
Asafoetida or Hing – 1 tsp
Salt – According to taste
Green chillies – 4
Onion- 1 medium size
Coriander leaves – A handful.

Instructions

  1. Soak Moong dal for 2 hours and drain all the water.
  2. Grind it into a coarse paste along with hing and salt.
  1. Add chopped onions , coriander and chillies to the batter and mix well
  2. Pour a ladle full of batter on a tawa or pan and add generous amount of oil.
  1. Close the pan and simmer the stove.
  2. Open after 2 minutes and flip it over.
  3. Serve it with tomato or peanut chutney.

Notes.

  1. This recipe doesnt require any resting time.
  2. When you are about to make the pancakes, you can add the onions and green chillies.
  3. You can make the batter thin and have it as a dosa. But this tastes better
