Lockdown likely to be extended: Modi to opposition leaders

PM Modi during his meeting with the floor ministers of the opposite leaders suggested that lifting of the lockdown is not possible by April 14th.

Life will not be the same again after COVID-19, said the PM, adding that there would be “pre-corona and post-corona” for times to come.

“Massive behavioral, social and personal changes will have to take place,” the Prime Minister reportedly told political leaders in the video conference.

“The priority of the government is to save each and every life. The situation in the country is akin to a ‘social emergency’, it has necessitated tough decisions and we must continue to remain vigilant,” said the PM.

Meanwhile, most of the Chief Ministers also suggested an extension considering the massive increase in the spread which might reach its peak the upcoming weeks.

Modi will be taking his decision in this week and before that he will be holding a meeting with all the Chief Ministers to discuss the same.
