Losing Alice: A Stunning Overture to a seductively Ominous Drama

Losing Alice, a new psychological thriller Israeli TV series, has been curated by Jerusalem Film Festival (JFF) to premiere on We Are One youtube channel, an online global film festival on May 29th. This first episode of the series, that premiered today, has immediately captured attention of its viewers. Given the result, It undoubtedly qualifies to be a binge-worthy series.
Alice, who is known to be a renowned writer-director, struggles to find her game. Her husband is a successful actor and sometimes Alice feels his success overshadows hers as she slowly begins to diminish. She can’t help but to feel intimidated by others’ success and insecure about her own. Alice meets a young woman on a train, Sophie, who introduces herself as a great fan of her work as it’s her sole inspiration to get into the film script writing field.

An exchange of this conversation between these two women, who are stranger to each other until this moment, is elusively absorbing. An erotic tension is developed between them in a mysterious way. She talks about Alice’s husband and touches a nerve when she pries about her any recent achievement. Alice learns it later that Sophie is not just a fangirl who found an opportunity to talk to Alice. Sophie has a mind-blowing script in her bag and also banks Alice’s husband, the talented actor, to do the lead role in script. Alice’s intimidation grows and wants to read the script right away. She is indeed blown away too.

Ayelet Zorer as Alice is captivating. She is simply stunning in the way she dwells really well when she struggles to find her old self, when she is insecure about her talent, frustrated about losing the grip in her game and sexually confused in the face of another stunning women, Sophie. Alice now wants to know more about young Sophie who seems to have the freshness the former longs to achieve. Is Sophie really in Alice and her husband’s life accidentally? or Is it all along a fangirl’s wicked plan to near the woman she adores? Is it a play to touch the raw nerve of Alice? or Is it a play itself to kill Alice in the process. The first episode ended with an amazing bang. The mind-bending approach to take it forward as a suspense thriller works greatly.
