Man arrested for pregnant elephant’s death in Kerala

A man was arrested in connection with the death of a pregnant elephant recently.

The arrested man has been identified as P Wilson, an employee of an estate that cultivates cash crops and spices. The minister said more arrests will be by evening.

The two men have reportedly told interrogators that they set up a snare of fruit filled with crackers to scare wild boars, which often destroyed their farms.

Recently the death of a pregnant elephant which died after eating the pineapple that had firecrackers in it shook the world. The death report of the elephant said that it died from drowning and lung failure. It was declared as unnatural death after it was found that the pachyderm’s jaws had been mangled due to some explosives. As per the report, the animal did not eat for two weeks.

FIR was then filed over unidentified people at that time. Later, the Police took three people into custody.

Even though the killing of the elephant is unintentional, usage of such snares, fruits stuffed with explosives to scare boars which destroyed their crops is illegal.
