SA-W-U19 vs IN-W-U19: India win by four wickets
India U19 team’s winning run continues as they defeat South Africa U19 side by four wickets. Indian team dominated right from the start. Yashasri and Falak Naz opened the bowling for the team. Falak Naz was more successful with 2/11 from her four overs while Yashasri returned with a wicket.
The pick of the bowlers for the Indian team was Najla. The Kerala spinner ended with 3/4 from her three overs. Notably, she is only in the reserve for the Indian U19 World Cup Team. India used eight bowlers and Shafali Verma rolled her arms for a couple of overs too.
For South Africa, Elandri looked good at the start. The opener had a six to her name as well. She made 17 runs from 15 balls. Kayla Reyneke ended as the top scorer for the team with 18 runs.
A thunderstorm stopped the game in between but that didn’t affect the overs.
Soumya Tiwari and Shafali Verma opened the batting for India. Shweta, who played in the 1st game, was rested for this one. The openers made 51 runs for the first wicket. Soumya Tiwari ran herself out at 14. Shafali Verma made 27-ball 29. Seshnie Naidu bowled well for South Africa and did put Indian batters in trouble. The team lost Sonia Mendhiya for just eight and Richa Ghosh for 12-ball 15. Shika Shalot and Mannat Kashyap got out for a duck.
In the end, Hurley Gala stood unbeaten at 7 alongside Yashasri (3*) and helped India to cross the line in the 15th over.
Seshnie Naidu was the biggest positive for the South African team. The young spinner ended with 3/14.
India take a 2-0 lead in the series now with two more matches to go.
