TN government announce relaxation measures for industries in non-containment zones

After the extension of lockdown till May 17, Tamil Nadu government has announced relaxation measures for commercial and industrial operations in non-containment zones in the state.

The state cabinet met on Saturday at the secretariat to decide on the guidelines for the extended lockdown. It was decided that there will not be any relaxation measures in the containment zones.

The key points in the guidelines are that the government has provided permission for industries, construction activities and standalone shops etc to resume operations with time restrictions and approval from authorities. Educational institutions, public transport services, autos/cabs, Gym, beauty parlour, salons will remain closed till May 17.

In Chennai, construction work can resume if the workers stay in the wit. Transportation for the raw materials for construction is allowed with proper approval. Special Economic Zones and other industrial sectors can resume with 25 percentage staffs. However, transport has to be provided. For the IT sector, 10 percent staffs are allowed. Stores that are functional will operate from 6 am to 5 pm. Restaurants can provide takeaway from 6 am to 9 pm. E-commerce can operate between 6 am and 5 pm. Stand-alone shops that are permitted can be open from 11 am to 5 pm. Skilled workers like plumbers and electricians have to get prior permission from the corporation before start working.

In the rest of the state, all industries outside city limits can operate with 50 percentage staff. Textile industries in panchayat with a population of 15000 people can resume with permission from the collector. Export companies can operate with pre-approval from District administration. Staff limit remains at 50 percentage.

Leather and garment industry can operate at 30 percentage staff with permission. IT and ITES can operate at 50 percentage staff capacity. Stand-alone shops can operate from 10 am to 5 pm. Shops selling construction work materials can operate between 9 am to 5 pm. All industries must get prior permission from the collectorate.

Common restrictions prevail that were applied will prevail till May 17. Basic and essential services will function as usual. Mining and construction can resume operations with permission from collectorate. MSME sector industries need not get special permission to operate. The district collector has to make necessary arrangements for industries to resume operations on May 6.
