Zomato, Swiggy resume restricted services along with groceries and other essentials in TN

After multiple reports and requests about old-age people struggling to get food, the Tamil Nadu government has made a few significant announcements on Friday.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami announced that food delivery services like SWIGGY, Ubereats and Zomato will be available in restricted timings. He said that the delivery services will be available from 7 am to 9.30 am in the morning, from 12 noon to 2.30 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm to deliver breakfast, lunch and dinner respectively.

The Chief Minister also announced that the essential services like groceries, milk, vegetables and petrol bulks will remain open from 6 am to 2.30 pm only from Monday. The announcement said that the goods movement to the Koyambedu market should be between 6 pm and 6 am.

He said that this announcement is made to avoid the public using unnecessary reasons to move out of their houses. However, pharmaceuticals and restaurants (only takeaway) can function throughout the day.

With the number of positive cases increasing every day, the Tamil Nadu government is trying to impose strict restrictions to avoid movement of the public without affecting their essential requirements.
