Marcus Rashford’s campaign raises funds for school children in UK

A campaign begun by Marcus Rashford has enabled the free school meal voucher the scheme from government to come back and feed 1.3 million children.

After the UK government deciding not to provide free school meal children outside of term time, footballer Marcus Rashford wrote a letter to the MPs asking for the decision to be reversed.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has lauded Rashford for using his societal power for public use while addressing the daily COVID-19 briefing.

“I talked to Marcus Rashford today and congratulated him on his campaign which to be honest I only became aware of very recently, today – and I thank him for what he’s done,” he said.

He added that everyone have to understand the pressure that families are under right now and the voucher would help those in need.

Rashford took it to twitter to thank the government and people involved for the decision.

“This was never about me or you, this was never about politics, this was a cry out for help from vulnerable parents all over the country and I simply provided a platform for their voices to be heard,” he wrote addressing to all the MPs.

It has been reported that close to 1.3 million students in England have benefited from the reversal of the scheme.
