Cricket Inspiring IPL Men Cricket World Cup 2019

Dear Dhoni… Why?

Why? Why did you do this for us?
I was counting the days and waiting for your return since the IPL was announced. It’s been more than a year already and waiting to see you never seemed sweeter until you landed in Chennai. This 2020 is already overwhelming and this is not something I was expecting.
I was expecting to see you play. To wear that jersey once again. To hit those winning runs. Helicopter shots and taking us home with all smile.

Now, what should I tell my heart that is still hoping to see in blue? Why is this so hard? You love your fans. And now, is that the reason why you didn’t call it a day right after the World Cup run-out? Or were you waiting to see if the team India can move on without you? At some point, we all have to, right?

I don’t have any answers. I don’t need one. I believe in miracles and I still believe that you’d come and tell us all that it was just a prank you pulled on us. Oh, you used to pull pranks on us, made us laugh during your early stages. Please tell me it was someone else.

When you began your career who knew you would become a big part of us when we grew up. There isn’t a day that goes without talking about you or your records. You were like a family for all of us. Now, you cannot just drop a video and tell us that you are not going to wear that blue jersey anymore.

I know life moves on. I know it is harder. I know you’d hang your boots like real soon. I know you’d do this for us. I know you’d go off and would be enjoying your stay with your CSK mates while we are all talking about you on Social media. That’s who you are.

I know you were hurt after the 2019 World Cup. Did it take more than a year for you to process everything? Were you hard on yourself?
You would have played at least the 2020 World Cup, right? Oh, now I have another reason to blame the pandemic.

I wish there is a way to go back in time and if I could, I would have changed the 2019 World Cup result. Because you deserved a better farewell. You deserved everything. This is not how you should be ending it. For all the things you have done. For all the trophies you have won. You deserved a better farewell.

Now that we are not going to have you back, I really want to enjoy the days that you have with CSK. I don’t care about the result. I just want to watch you play.

Thank You, Dhoni. Thank you for everything. Thank you for inspiring billions.
