ENG vs SA, 1st ODI: Emma Lamb’s ton help England to go 1-0

After picking up a draw in the only Test, England managed to go 1-0 up in the first ODI, thanks to Emma Lamb’s century.

Sune Luus opted to bat first but England bowlers dominated right from ball one. Katherine Brunt, who had retired from Test cricket, made her appearance today. Brunt didn’t take much time as she dismissed Steyn and Goodall cheaply.

While Wolvaardt was holding one end, she ran out of partners as the team found themselves at 73/4. Wolvaardt made 43 and once she got out, it was Tryon’s show all the way. The all-rounder notched up 88 runs from 73 deliveries and with the help of Nadine de Klerk, the team reached 218.

In return, Kapp dismissed Beaumont early but Lamb made sure to steady the chase.

England had a few changes to the line-up with Sophia Dunkley coming in at number three. She added 22 runs and once she got out, Sciver and Lamb took the team closer to the total. Sciver made 55 from 36 deliveries and Lamb got out for 102. England chased down the total in 33 overs to go 1-0 up.
