India U19 team had a good start to the 5-match T20 series against the New Zealand Development team as they go 1-0 up against the visitors.
Opting to bat first, the New Zealand development team couldn’t get going as Indian bowlers restricted them to just 85/9 in their 20 overs.
Olivia Gain, who scored 99 in the final T20 against the West Indies U19 team, got out to Hurley Gala for just 1 off 3 deliveries. Hurley Gala also dismissed Flora Devonshire and Anna Browing to end with 3/18 from her four overs.
She had good support from Sonam Yadav, who ended on 2/12. Sonia Mendhiya and Parshavi Chopra also picked up a wicket each.
For New Zealand, Abby Gerken scored 22 off 33 deliveries and Nensi Patel scored 18* from 25 deliveries.
In return, Soumya Tiwari led the Indian chase with an unbeaten 52 from just 33 deliveries. The knock had ten boundaries as well.

Amie Hucker was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand with two wickets.
The second match of the series will be played on 29th November.
